Greetings, all! GREAT NEWS - THE HARDEST PART OF OUR SEASON IS BEHIND US!

Week one of Training Camp was one of the most successful that I have ever been around! The membership was ON FIRE all week long; from the upperclassmen "setting the tone" to the new members pushing past their "mental saturation point" each and every rehearsal block, the entire ensemble worked harder than ever and is poised to achieve GREAT things this season! I know that I speak for the rest of the instructional staff when I say that we CANNOT WAIT to get back to work tomorrow!

This Week's Schedule

Monday, Tuesday (9 AM - 5 PM)

Wednesday (4 PM - 9 PM)

Thursday (4 PM - 9 PM) - Pictures will begin at 3:30 PM, so please arrive at school to get in uniform if you are able!

Picture Day/Booster Club Meeting/Preview Knight (Thursday, 08.22)

Andy Kelly Photography will be taking individual, section, and group shots of each member of the Hempfield Marching Knights this Thursday beginning at 3:30 PM. These photos are the official photos that will be used in the Opening Knight program and HHS Yearbook, so all percussionists and winds should be in uniform for these photos. Mr. Kelly will make a return trip after the color guard uniforms have arrived. Order forms will be distributed on Monday and will be collected during the photo session on Thursday.

The Booster Club will hold their August meeting on Thursday, 08.22. The meeting will begin at 6 PM and is a GREAT way to "whet the appetite" prior to the Preview Knight presentation at the stadium!

Following the photo session, members will rehearse in preparation for Preview Knight which will be held at Georgelis Law Firm Stadium at 8 PM! This event is free and open to the public, so please begin to spread the word via social media! The members are excited to perform their 2013 Pre-Game Show along with excerpts from the 2013 Competition Show "FATE: It's In the Cards!" The event will last between 30 and 45 minutes.

Weekly Schedule

The weekly schedule for HMK will begin during the first week of school.

Tuesday: Sectionals (Winds 3:15 - 5:30 @ Band Room, Guard/Percussion 6:00 - 9:00 Location TBA)

Wednesday: Full Ensemble (3:15 - 5:30 @ PAC Field)

Thursday: Full Ensemble (6:00 - 9:00 @ Stadium)

Mini-Camp (Saturday, 09.07)

While HMK will take a break next weekend, the group will hold a "training camp style" Mini-Camp on Saturday, September 7th from 9 AM - 5 PM. Please join us at 4:30 PM as we open rehearsal to get a "sneak peak" at more of "FATE: It's In the Cards!"

Opening Knight Schedule Adjustment

We are less than one month away from the 21st Annual Opening Knight Band Festival! To honor Yom Kippur, Opening Knight will begin following sundown (7:10 PM) with The "Incomparable" Golden Rams Marching Band of West Chester University rounding out the festivities at 10:45 PM. With 14 of the best performing ensembles from the region still scheduled to perform, the event will once again be one to remember!
