Fall Showcase Concert - Review and Recordings!

The Hempfield Music Department proudly presented the 2011 Fall Showcase of Ensembles Concert at the Hempfield Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, October 26th. The event, featuring each of the seven performing ensembles at Hempfield High School, packed the house and provided the audience with truly exceptional performances of the music of Mozart, Ticheli, Whitacre, Broege, Bernstein, Rossini, and others.

Both the Freshman Concert Band and Symphonic Winds gave inspired performances that had a great impact on the capacity crowd at the Performing Arts Center. Among the highlights were Broege's "Rhythm Machine" (performed by the Concert Band) and Whitacre's "October" (performed by the Symphonic Band). Additionally, both bands performed extremely well under the baton of Guest Conductor Rachael Smolinsky (Portrait of a Clown, Redwoods).

The Hempfield Concert Band and Symphonic Winds will next perform at the Winter Band Concert on Tuesday, January 10th (7:30 PM). The program will include the music of Holst, Wiley, Barnes Chance, Barrett, and more!
